About Our School
Madison Waldorf School is a private grade school located in Madison, Wisconsin. Our primary mission is to provide education that honors every child’s enthusiasm for initiative, creativity and social responsibility. Our Waldorf-trained teachers provide a curriculum devoted to intellectual and spiritual growth, while fostering a sense of wonder in the world. We are committed to providing a wholesome, play-based early childhood program in conjunction with a rich Grade 1 – 6 curriculum. We are adding a grade every year as we expand to include a high school.
We believe Waldorf education should be within the reach of all, regardless of income. It is for this reason that we intentionally set our tuition at a rate that is comparable or lower than other private schools in the Madison area. We also provide a sibling discount as well as tuition adjustment for families in need. For more information on these programs, see our admissions page.
Our History
Madison Waldorf School was founded in the summer of 2007, and is part of a larger Waldorf community that has existed in the Madison area for over 25 years. We are the first Waldorf school in the Greater Madison area to offer a grade school education. When we first opened our doors, we offered two kindergarten classes, and a combined First & Second Grade. It has been four years, and our school has flourished. We now have three Kindergarten classrooms, two that serve children 4 to 6 years old, and one that serves younger children, age 3 to 5 years old. We offer a combined First and Second Grade class, Third Grade, Fourth Grade, and a combined Fifth/Sixth Grade class. We are adding a grade every year as we expand to include a high school.
