Extended Day Program Coordinator

The Extended Day Program Coordinator is the primary adult responsible for the safety and enjoyment of children attending Madison Waldorf School’s extended day program and enrichment camps. The coordinator is responsible for the planning, supervision, scheduling, staffing and organization and implementing of the extended day (after care and before care) program and the enrichment camps that are offered periodically throughout the school year during scheduled breaks. The coordinator works with the faculty chair and administrator to assure a seamless transition from the experience of the children in their Waldorf classroom to the extended day program.

Qualifications

The Extended Day Program Coordinator will

  • Have experience working with children in a classroom and/or extended care setting
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Enjoy being outside in all types of weather
  • Be able to positively discipline children
  • Have first aid certification
  • Experience with Waldorf education or interest in learning

Duties

The Extended Day and Enrichment Camp duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Program Development
    • Work closely with school to provide an enriching array of activities, rooted in Waldorf education, for students ages 3-12
    • Plan a predictable daily rhythm and age-appropriate activities that meet children’s needs and interests
    • Develop, maintain and provide a weekly rhythm of healthy snacks for children
    • Be responsible for the safety, supervision, and well-being of students attending these programs
    • Meet with faculty chair and/or administrator regularly to review the program, discuss and problem-solve issues related to students and staffing
  • Manage program staff and operations
    • Work within given budget for staffing and program expenses
    • Assist in the hiring of staff for the program
    • Provide orientation and training for staff
    • Directly supervise staff
    • Coordinate scheduling of staff
    • Register children for program
    • Maintain enrollment and attendance records
    • Provide accurate attendance and staffing hours information to Business Manager
    • Fill out accident/injury and incident reports as needed
    • Maintain good communication with parents and with the community
  • Facilities Care
    • Maintain clean and orderly spaces, both indoors and outdoors
    • Secure the building at the end of the day by locking doors and turning out lights      

Extended Care and Enrichment Camp Hours

  • Before Care: 7:15am-8:30am, Monday-Friday when school is in session (not necessary to be present when covered by Extended Day staff)
  • After Care: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays: 3:15pm-5:45pm, when school is in session; Thursdays, 1:45pm-5:45pm
  • Enrichment Camps: 8:00am-4:00pm
    • October 31/November 1
    • February 19-February 21
    • March 13 and 16
    • April 6-10

Compensation

  • 20 hours/week/34 weeks
  • $18-$20/hour, depending on experience
