Our Programs

Parent-Child Playgroup (Spring Session)

Our Parent-Child Playgroup is for children under 3 1/2 and their caregivers. This group activity gently familiarizes young children to social interaction and nature while enhancing their motor development, imagination, and literacy foundations through songs and magical storytelling. We maintain a tranquil, intimate environment by keeping the class size small.

Playgroup meets every Wednesday, April 3 - May 29 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. The cost is $225 for this enriching 9-week session. Space is limited and given on a first-come-first-served basis dependent upon completed registration and receipt of payment.

Early Childhood

Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood teachers create a warm, naturally beautiful environment in a home-like setting. Days allow ample time for play, both indoor and outdoor. Children participate in purposeful tasks throughout the day, such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, washing, crafting, and more. At circle time, children participate in seasonal verses, songs, stories, and games. The storytelling curriculum also helps children develop a strong foundation for literacy in the grades. Our students grow and develop through exposure to artistic offerings, such as puppet plays, live music, drawing, watercolor painting, and beeswax modeling.

Strong daily and weekly rhythms encourage balance, coordination, and important gross-motor and fine-motor skills. They also support each child’s imagination, sense of wonder for the world, and reverence for life.

The school day includes snack and lunch time, and an afternoon rest for full-day students.

Elementary School

Madison Waldorf School offers an experience-based and holistic education to elementary school children. Each Class Teacher leads the class in morning main lesson, music, and extra skills lessons. Special subject teachers instruct the students in Spanish and German, handwork, games/physical education and Pentathlon (for fifth graders). Play block is an important part of the year for each class. Classes enjoy several field trips and community outings each year.

Middle School

The Waldorf middle school curriculum engages students in the scientific process of exploration, logical reasoning in conceptual mathematics, and the study of codified systems of governance. The visual and performing arts are integrated into daily classroom work. Classes go on several field trips each year.

Middle school students at Madison Waldorf School study either Spanish or German.

At the end of their middle school years, students prepare a capstone project and go on an extended class trip.
