Middle School

Grades 6 - 8

Strengthening skills for the future

The elementary school experience is the fertile soil in which middle school students have cultivated capabilities, confidence, and friendships. These qualities carry them securely into the future, as they begin to realize the fruits of their hard work.

A deep connection to the world

At this stage, children are firmly in their bodies and solidly connected to earthly concerns, materials, and influences. The Waldorf curriculum honors this connection by diving deeply into subjects like:

Physiology

Students explore the inner workings of the human body, learning how systems and organs function and support life

Geology

This subject delves into the structure of the Earth, including rocks, minerals, and the forces that shape our planet

Meteorology

Students study the atmosphere and weather patterns, gaining an understanding of climate and environmental phenomena

Mechanics

This topic introduces the principles of physics, focusing on motion, forces, and the workings of machines

Inspiration through study

Students are challenged and inspired as they research the lives of influential people, exploring how these individuals shaped history. Their growing need to question the status quo is met with the study of revolutions from around the world.

Rising to new challenges

As middle school students begin to grow out of childhood, they are faced with greater responsibilities for exactness, excellence, and expression. This is the time when they come into their own power of judgment, learning to express themselves with eloquence, precision, and well-founded reasoning.
